Eumachia: Patrōna Pompēiāna

Emma Vanderpool (June 1, 2020)

Just as Kandake Amanirenas told the true story of a powerful woman from Classical history, Emma Vanderpool's Eumachia focuses on the title character, an influential woman in first-century CE Pompeii. Given the success of Kandake Amanirenas, Eumachia promises to be an interesting reading for teachers and students alike!

Rīdiculī et Horrībilēs Deī et Deae

Rachel Beth Cunning (June 7, 2020)

Rachel Beth Cunning is at it again, this time with no fewer than six short stories on mythological themes: Amalthea nursing Jupiter; Saturn devouring his children; the drawing of lots to determine which god rules the sky, sea, and underworld; Niobe's superbia; Mars looking for a wife; and Ceres and the Sirens. A book of short stories is certainly a welcome addition to the novella world!
